Here we go again…

This is the second time now that our blog has been destroyed by hackers. Why?  What do they have against old cars? Could it be that driving a Prius makes you hate yourself and the world?  Perhaps.

In any case, I haven’t had time to restore this site until now and it will take a while.  Please check back later.  And be careful of angry nerds in hybrids.

  1. Hello all. I’ve been enjoying oldcarbrochures.com website for quite a while now but have recently noticed that some brochures I select are no longer able to be viewed. The images are blank. Am I doing something wrong. My son told me that I appear to be restricted from viewing images on some of the servers. Is there anything I can do about this? Love the site and hoping I can regain access.

    Thanks,

    Rich

    1. Thanks for getting in touch. We moved that website to a new server a while ago after the old machine died. It’s possible that some of the file permissions got messed up, so if you can give me some specifics – URLs or brochure names – I can fix the problem. With several hundred thousand pages, I lose track of things! – Rusty

  2. The website may be getting hacked because:

    A) It’s an easy target

    &

    B) The hackers are more than familiar with your software and the bugs it contains which allows them easy access.

If the hacking continues, you may need to switch out the software that runs the website altogether for newer (or at least more secure) software. Some of the older programs are buggy or have holes that are well known yet they’ll never be fixed because the original programmers no longer support them nor care. Just food for thought and an FYI in case it never came up in conversation.
